DeSoto is a city in Dallas County, Texas. It’s part of the Best Southwest area that includes DeSoto and Cedar Hill with population estimates ranging from 52 thousand to over 100 thousands people!

It was 1847 when the first settlers arrived, making DeSoto one of North Texas’ oldest communities. In 1881 they established a post office and named their settlement after Thomas Hernando de Soto Stewart who dedicated himself to this small community in need; soon enough there were 120 people living here – including several business owners at different shops around town! And by 1930? 97 souls called themselves “residential” because everything else had closed up shop except for two hotels which served all kinds needs: food on demand (not like now) or bedding should you want your sheets changed while traveling through these parts).

After World War II, many people who lived in DeSoto and surrounding areas felt that their water distribution system was inadequate. They petitioned for incorporation as a town on February 17th 1949 with the request made after 42 eligible voters signed it; this vote took place on March 2nd where 50 voted yes while two were opposed which then lead to them officially being incorporated into our city today – Dallas County Commissioners Court records show there wasn’t any other way but up!
