Ennis is a city in eastern Ellis County, Texas. It has an interesting history that includes being home to many festivals and events like the National Polka Festival or various car shows throughout the year! This lively community also offers plenty for those who love outdoor activities such as fishing, bird watching and camping at one of two state parks located within 10 miles (16 km) from downtown Ennis.

The land that would become the city of Ennis was first settled by Native Americans. Later, it became known as an important hunting ground for many different tribes including Waco sleeper settlements who frequented this area until early 19th century when Anglo pioneers arrived from Texas’ capital Dallas during its infancy period – around 1850s! However, communities such as Ovilla, Waxahachie, and Bristol would have been settled and founded prior to the establishment of the city of Ennis.

The city of Ennis is in the northeastern region of Texas, nestled between Dallas and Houston. Interstate 45 passes through its east side with access from Exits 247 through 255 providing a convenient road link between these two large cities as well as many smaller ones along it’s way such us Waco which can be accessed easily by Highway 34 leading northeast 26 miles (42 km)to Kaufman or southwest 20+miles(32km).
